Preventing hospital-acquired infections with state-of-the-art hospital medical technology! Hospital-acquired infections as well as infections in nursing homes and homes for the elderly are an increasing problem throughout Europe. In Germany alone, 400,000 – 600,000 patients contract hospital infections each year. According to current estimates, about 10,000 to 15,000 of these patients die as a result.<\/p>\n

The declared aim of hygiene measures in hospitals and nursing and care homes is to prevent nosocomial infections. Nosocomial infections refer to infections that are directly related to a stay in a hospital or nursing facility and were not present prior to the stay.<\/p>\n

A large number of measures and regulations serve to improve hygiene in hospitals and other medical facilities. The Infection Protection Act (IfSG), for example, contains a number of provisions that support the prevention and control of nosocomial infections.<\/p>\n

The Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention at the Robert Koch Institute (KRINKO) regularly issues recommendations on the prevention of nosocomial infections.
