He set the standards that have characterized our work for over 40 years – consistent precision and the highest quality craftsmanship.

Peter Barselak, born on September 24, 1941 in Fraustadt (Silesia), received his first patent for a bedpan rinsing device, which he developed together with Horst Dekiert, on January 11, 1965. On this very day, he also married his wife Hiltrud, who – over 51 years of marriage – always actively supported him in his work.

From then on, the trained sheet metal worker steadily and consistently developed today’s medical product and in 1969, together with Theodor Hörsgen, founded his first company, Vogelsang GmbH, in Castrop-Rauxel-Henrichenburg. Bedpan flushers, high-quality stainless steel furniture for the hospital and care sector, and art in construction were the company’s core competencies. In the field of medical technology, he was described by many business partners as a visionary for whom the motto “can’t be done, doesn’t exist” applied.

Peter Barselak remained committed to medical technology and the production of high-quality stainless steel products in the following years and founded Barselak/Rhode GmbH, ZK Edelstahl GmbH and be + we GmbH, which was sold to Arjo Huntleigh in 1994.
His commitment was always characterized by entrepreneurial thinking combined with social engagement. His employees and partners were like one big family to him.

In 1996, he founded bg edelstahl und kunststofftechnik für krankenhaus, industrie und wasserwirtschaft gmbh, based in Recklinghausen. In 2008, the company expanded and moved to neighboring Oer-Erkenschwick, with a modern production hall and more than 1500 m2 of space. In the following years, Peter Barselak gradually handed over the business to his son, Patrick Barselak, who has managed the company since 2016.

On March 10, 2016, Peter Barselak passed away at the age of 74 after a long, serious illness.
We miss him and will always remember him as a warm and persistent person with gratitude.
